ELM Group – Delivering services to our patients

At ELM Group we have been working closely with our Patient Participation Group (PPG) to help improve access for patients. After consultation and review we have defined the most important requirements for patient access as:

  • The ability to provide urgent appointments to patients that are unwell and need them at short notice.
  • Increasing availability of routine telephone consultations (reflecting busy lifestyles and work commitments of patients).
  • Reducing the waiting time to access a GP.

We have reviewed our appointment system and compared this to practices both locally and nationally. In order to better deliver our services for patients we have defined and implemented three types of appointment.

Routine pre-booked appointments

To see a GP of your choice you must have an appointment. These can be booked up to six weeks in advance. We appreciate that it is sometimes difficult to get an appointment at the time you want or with the doctor you would prefer. Whilst we are trying everything we can to improve our appointment system, we have limited resources and cannot offer unlimited appointments.

Same day appointments

All patients can access same day appointments at our East Leake and Sutton Bonington branches. These appointments can be booked online, by telephone or by popping into the surgery. We endeavour to see urgent cases as soon as possible.

Telephone consultations

It is not always necessary to come to the surgery, particularly if a physical examination is not required. In this case, you may find it useful to book a telephone consultation. When you book a telephone consultation you will be asked to give the phone number you want to be contacted on and given an approximate time to expect the call, please be available at that time and if using a mobile please ensure it is switched on.
